Luis Lopez
Hi! I’m Luis. I’ve started running since early 2018. I’m an engineer and amateur athlete in love with distance running. I have completed 5 marathons. My first one was in Monterrey MX, 2018. My second one was the Mexico City Marathon, after that came to my resume Chicago in 2019 registering a 3h04 hours. After that Phoenix with 2h50 (current PR) and finally Boston Marathon on October 11th, 2021.
Don Wang
I was a lazy sprinter in high school (200m, 400m), and the thought of running a marathon (or even a half) never crossed my mind until I was 25, when I watched as a housemate trained for her third consecutive Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. Numerically-inclined, I thought it would be cool to run my age in miles, and I completed my first marathon at 2008 RnR (San Diego). Since then, I’ve run nearly 60 marys, most of them as a pacer, with a PR of 2:50 at 2019 NYC. As a pacer I strive to bank energy (not time) and go by even effort (slower on the uphills, faster on the downhills).

Georgina Mishkin
Hi, my name is Georgie! I’m a Brit turned American after moving to Houston in 2001. I have been a part of the Houston marathon weekend since I was 14 years old when I ran my first 1/2 marathon. I have run in the Houston marathon weekend for over 10 years, pacing the last 4 of them. Fun fact: I have paced 3 of these with my DAD by my side! I’m lucky to have covered so many miles, but I just can’t seem to get enough of the Houston marathon!! Truly is one of the best weekends of the year.
Jorge Polo Medina
My name is Jorge Polo and I am from Punto Fijo, Venezuela. I have been involved in running since 2015 as a way to improve my physical condition and look for a healthy lifestyle. After coming to the USA, I arrived in Houston and I was immediately attracted by Chevron Houston Marathon hype. I joined the volunteer crew in 2019 and my first experience as a runner in this race was in 2020. I think this race is a great experience to connect and share with the running community of this great city. From the starting line to the finish line you are going to enjoy every mile of the course and be supported by runners and the Houstonians.

Jenny Gruber
Jenny lives in Houston, where she has worked at NASA Johnson Space Center since 2002. She has been running for a little over 20 years, and have completed 35 marathons and 13 ultras (9 50K, 3 50M, and 1 100K). She has lived through injuries, good races, and not so good races, so she can empathize with and encourage other runners, no matter what kind of day they’re having. The Houston Marathon is one of her favorite races–the course provides a good tour of the city, the spectators are plentiful, and the organizers and volunteers take GREAT care of the runners. She has paced Houston twice (once while recovering from a horrible case of food poisoning!), and it’s such a rewarding experience! She loves showing off the city, encouraging runners, and helping people reach their goals.
Teresa Ngo
Teresa has been running since college and ran the Houston Marathon when it was called Hewlett Packard. Running has been enjoyable since it has lead her to new areas of Houston in which she never knew existed. Carola Beedle
Hi my name is Carola Beedle. I am from Honduras, Central America. I started running 6 years ago because I enjoyed a Bootcamp for women and few girls were training for the Hot Chocolate Run 15k and I wanted to do it but unfortunately I never run in my life so I couldn’t do it .I started training myself to do a 5k and finally did it in 50 minutes. I was so HAPPY that day and is when I fell in love with this Sport call RUNNING. I have done 2 50k, 2 50 miles, 16 marathons and probably 25 or more half marathon.
Devin Brown
I’m Devin and I will be pacing the 4:20 group again this year. I’m a Houston native with lots of experience pacing the Houston marathon. I am also a coach with a local running club. I have run marathons all over the world and I love to talk with runners about running and traveling. I am currently working on running a marathon on all seven continents. I have five so far. I have also run across the Grand Canyon and back and I have done a couple of Ironman races (I always enjoyed the running part the best). I’m a very social person, and sometimes a little light conversation is just what we runners need to take our focus on the hard work we are doing for 26.2 miles. I can also see when someone needs to just put their head down and concentrate so I also don’t mind letting folks run in peace.

Cory Lucas
Cory caught the running bug back in 1985 when he started running local 5 and 10K fun runs. Then in middle school he ran track and in high school he proceeded to run track and cross country. His first Marathon was the 1991 Houston Marathon and he has now completed his 21st Houston Marathon. His first taste of trail running was a 50 miler which he completed in 2012 and has been hooked on Ultra/Trail running. Since then, he has completed ten 50K/60K/50M, three 100K and five 100 milers. October 2021 he just completed his 92nd Marathon/Ultra. He became a part of the Marathon Maniacs #6392 in 2012 and his longest Marathon streak so far is 4 in 4 days. He has paced a total of 28 Marathons. He enjoys helping others reach their life goals and loves to take on challenges and he is always looking for the next turn.
Michael Swanson
Michael “ran” his first race in 2008. It was a 5k and didn’t go well. It wouldn’t be until August of 2013 that he tried another 5k. That one went well and he was hooked. Over the next 8 years, he’d complete some 90 races which ranged from 5ks all the way up to a 100k. To date, these races include some 45 half marathons, 12 marathons, 3 ultra-marathons, and a smattering of shorter distances.

Luis Jimenez
I was originally born in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico. I was raised in the housing projects in East Los Ángeles, California. I was a fat person almost reaching 300 lbs. I needed to change my weight for health reasons. I decided to take up running and could barely run for two consecutive minutes…that’s how my running journey started. Two minutes led to a 6 hour 50 minute 50K race. Running numerous races…marathons, half marathons, 15K, 10k, and 5k…pacing them too! That is how I give back to my fellow runners.
Andrew Aguirre
Andrew is 41 years young and is from Tulsa, OK. He is a finance director who started his marathon journey in 2010. His first marathon was Route 66. Since 2010 he has completed 142 (marathons or longer events) in 50 states/countries. His most proud finish was the 2015 Boston Marathon. Andrew had the opportunity to run Boston about 6 weeks before race day. He shifted my training to focus on Boston and pulled off a significant PR for himself at the time.
