Runcoach Premium Training = The Relationship App

The Runcoach training service combines your activity data with the oversight of a certified coach who is assigned to you in a 1:1 relationship through the app. On average, runners who train with the Runcoach program improve finish times by 7% (4:00/Marathon to 3:42/Marathon). All Houston Marathon runners receive a discounted rate for Premium service of $50 to train through race day. Coaches Rosie, Cally, Alex and Tom are standing by to review your profile, create a personal plan and ensure you have a great race day in January.

Tom McGlynn, founder and CEO of Runcoach, is a lifelong runner, 3-time Olympic Trials Qualifier, and respected coach. Passionate about helping runners achieve their goals, he created Runcoach to adapt to the changing needs of athletes. Tom has guided thousands to new PRs, training marathoners from 2:15 to 8:15. As a Runcoach Premium member, you can consult coaches like Tom for expert advice on training, race preparation, injury prevention, and nutrition.

Rosie EdwardsBronze medalist at the British Olympic Trials and 2:32 marathoner, Rosie is dedicated to helping others love running. She believes in the power of teamwork, crediting her success to her coaches and teammates. Starting as a 1500m runner, she now excels in road racing, recently placing third at the 2021 British Olympic Trials. Rosie combines her sports science knowledge with personal experience to help you achieve your best. As a Runcoach Premium member, you’ll have access to expert coaches like Rosie.

Alexander Monroe3x U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier and ACE PT, Alex knows how to compete at a high level while staying healthy and enjoying the process. A former swimmer turned runner, he excelled at Lock Haven University and is now a nationally ranked 10K and marathon runner with a half marathon best of 1:01:50. Alex is eager to use his running and physical therapy expertise to help you reach your best. As a Runcoach Premium member, you’ll have access to expert coaches like Alex. 

Cally MacumberOlympic Trials qualifier, 3x Team USA member, and 4x NCAA DI All-American, Cally has over 15 years of experience in track, road, and cross-country racing. Passionate about helping runners of all levels achieve their goals, she boasts personal bests from 4:37 in the mile to 1:12:19 in the half marathon. As a Runcoach Premium member, you’ll have access to expert coaches like Cally. 

Nutrition

Gatorade Endurance Formula (Orange), the Official Sports Fuel Provider of the Chevron Houston Marathon, are available every 1.5 miles beginning at mile 2. The specialized Gatorade sports drink contains approximately twice the sodium of Gatorade Thirst Quencher (200 mg per 8 ounces), along with chloride, potassium, magnesium, and calcium to help sustain hydration by more fully replacing what is lost in sweat.

Gatorade Endurance Formula will be available in the George R. Brown Convention Center before and after the race.

Running Clubs

Many Houston-area running clubs offer offline training programs or running groups that can help participants get ready for the Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon or We Are Houston 5K.
